April 30, 2010, Newsletter Issue #214: Drive An Older Car to Get Cheap Student Car Insurance

Tip of the Week

When you're young, the appearance of your car matters a lot. Most young people want to drive brand new popular-model cars. However, insuring sports cars and other high-risk cars can make car insurance more expensive. In order to get cheap student car insurance, it is recommended that you drive an older “everyday car.” Older cars cost less to ensure. Cars that are made of steel are cheaper to fix than their fiberglass counterparts. Additionally, the rate of injury and theft is lower for more common cars than for sports cars and new cars. Finally, if you choose a car that is worth $3000 or less, you can eliminate collision coverage from your insurance policy and save even more money.
